For Amazon sellers, an effective social media presence has become one of the most important ways to engage with their audience, but it can be difficult to rise above the noise and be heard, especially on designated social media “holidays.” We’re all familiar with them by now; it seems there is one for virtually every day of the year. From #nationaldonutday to #womenshealthweek, these holidays can be effective ways for Amazon sellers to post popular, brand-relevant content to engage their followers. But how do you stand out from the crowd? Here, we’ll discuss a few creative strategies to help you get heard.
Choose holidays most relevant to your brand
As we mentioned above, there is a holiday for every day of the year–sometimes more than one. Search for a social media holiday calendar that lists them all and create a content plan ahead of time. Make sure the holidays you choose to engage in feel relevant for your audience, then create a promotion around it that stands out. If you’re a wellness brand on #nationalteachersday, for example, think beyond your core product and create content that speaks to the lifestyle of the audience, e.g. a solution for sore muscles, given that most teachers tend to be on their feet most of the day.
Stick to your brand voice
It can be tempting to “have some fun” with your social media holiday posts, which is excellent as long as you don’t deviate too far from your brand voice. Don’t be afraid to try something new, but don’t lose sight of your brand identity. This is a delicate balance, especially when you’re selling on (and driving to) Amazon; you don’t want to jeopardize valuable credibility by creating content unfamiliar or unrelatable to your target customer.
Hashtags are still important
One of the best ways to get your voice heard is still through the use of hashtags; consumers rely on them to help them discover relevant content. They’ll make your posts easier for your followers to find, you’ll reach a wider audience, and ideally drive additional traffic to your Amazon store. But, be thoughtful and intentional with the hashtags you choose to include in your post. Make sure you’re optimizing hashtags to get your brand seen.
Get into the conversation
It’s important to have a content calendar to schedule posts, but social media is also a way for you and your brand to engage directly with your followers and drive them to your Amazon listings. Be sure to make time to interact with your audience organically. This can include sharing particularly inspiring content from your followers or answering their questions. Making customer interaction a priority will go a long way toward helping your brand stand out.
Post a “how-to”
Your followers look to you for more than just your products. They respect and value your industry expertise. Multiple studies have shown that 4 out of 5 consumers find “how-to” content to be helpful. Posting an inspiring “how-to” video or article that’s relevant to your audience needs and the social media holiday is a great way to boost engagement and increase conversion.
